Welcome to the Hauser Lab for Ecosystem Ecology at the University of Wisconsin!

The vast climate impacts of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions make it more critical than ever to understand ecosystem processes that drive carbon (C) cycling and storage. Understanding these processes is vital for developing climate change solutions. Our research focuses on the interactions among plants, soil minerals, and nutrients that govern C cycling. We combine field, laboratory, synthetic, and modeling techniques to examine changing nutrient and C dynamics in forest ecosystems and how those dynamics may impact important ecosystem services. Our goal is to produce actionable science that can guide sustainable human decisions in Earth’s terrestrial ecosystems.
